BEC Environmental -- Wellhead Protection


Wellhead Protection Wellhead protection is an essential component to protecting Nevada’s limited water resources. BEC Environmental coordinates with government agencies on the local, state and federal levels to promote awareness of drinking water and wellhead protection issues and to identify and implement measures to minimize the chance of a wellhead becoming an avenue for polluting Nevada’s groundwater. BEC has worked with towns and counties throughout Nevada, as well as the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection to develop, implement and enhance wellhead protection programs and plans throughout the state. BEC has been contracted to facilitate wellhead protection program redevelopment for the Nevada Division of Environmental Protection. Activities include developing recommendations for modifying the current Nevada Wellhead Protection Program as well as providing technical guidance and support for each community in Nevada that wishes to develop or update their wellhead protection program. BEC also conducts public education and outreach presentations to help residents understand Nevada’s ground water and drinking water issues.
